An Interview with GABI HERAS, Intensive Care Physician and Creator of IC-HU Project: “Humanizing Intensive Care is my Life Project and my Contribution to Medicine”.

This is a wonderful interview about a physician who truly cares, who has heart, is collaborating with other professionals for change in the healthcare system, particularly the ICU where he works.

He also happens to be one of the physicians who I am collaborating with on this blog-NorthernMSW.

We need more healthcare professionals whether physician, nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, physical therapist, orderlies, home care workers…… to advocate for change and to collaborate with others.

A special thank you to Elena Lorente Guerrero for doing the interview and allowing me to re-blog it.

The more that professionals around the world collaborate, share, and interact with one another, the more chance of change happening! It starts with one…….the end result is for services to be better for the patient/client and for a professional to feel supported, to have good supervision, and regular training to update their skills.

 GABRIEL HERAS LA CALLE has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Alcalá and is a specialist in Intensive Care Medicine. He was working as a medical aid worker in Ghana and Bolivia when he fell in love with the profession and knew he would be a physician the rest of his life.

He has worked as an Intensive Care Physician since 2002. He has worked in several hospitals in Spain, both public and private, and since 2012 has served as a consultant in the Intensive Care Medicine Service at the University Hospital of Torrejón.
