End-of-Life

Death Casts a Wide Net

An excellent article by Rea L. Ginsberg, LCSW-C, ACSW, BCD on the site Its OK to Die titled: Death Casts a Wide Net.

Our society fears death and everything that goes with it….but as the article states ‘death is a part of life.’

If we get people talking and thinking then perhaps some of the fear can be lessened. We have no choice in that someday we will all die….so at some point we have to accept the idea.

Rea states, “The growing American conversation about death and dying will not eliminate death fears.  That would be impossible because of the innate, inherited nature of the fear.  It will, however, serve to temper and tame the fight/flight consequences of those fears.”

And she further says, “Death rouses hope. We can appreciate the incredible richness, grace, and splendor of life because we also know its dark hours. Death heightens our reverence for life. That is strength and growth.”
